General Questions

Q: CAN WE BRING OUR RV TO YOU?

You can certainly bring your RV to a campground near us (we can give recommendations) but do not have anything at our shop location. When people show up early enough, we try to have it installed before the end of the day.

Q: WHAT TYPES OF CAMPERS DO YOU SKIRT?

Right now we only skirt travel trailers and 5th wheels. We have skirted a few Tiny Homes as well.

Q: WHY ARE 5TH WHEELS MORE?

The cost for a 5th wheel is generally more than a bumper pull for obvious reasons…the size. Also the 5th wheel panel is a LOT of material 25′ x 10′ and covers the entire hitch section of your unit.

Q: WHY DO YOU NOT ANSWER THE PHONE RIGHT AWAY?

We are a family of 5 that also homeschools our children when we are not installing skirting. With today’s technology, text us or email us, but before you do…look at the website information and our pictures/videos. All the answers you are looking for should be on our website. Often times it is easier for us to respond via text.

Q: I ORDERED FROM JOE AND KAYLA SPECIFICALLY, WILL THEY BE THE ONES WHO INSTALL?

We would love to be the ones to install every unit, however, at times we may need to send one of our trained installers.

Q: WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GET A SKIRT?

We can make a skirt anytime, we make them all year long! March-July are the best times for the quickest skirt. From August-February EVERYONE wants skirting and want it now (especially because pipes are already frozen with no way to unthaw them except wait for warmer temperatures). We also can not install the QwikSkirt system in the rain or heavy snow (if that happens on your install date…unfortuantely we will have to reschedule).

Q: I ORDERED MY SKIRT, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

We usually require 2-3 weeks processing time but can be longer during our busy season. You will be notified when your DIY skirting ships or if you are scheduled for an install, we stay in contact with you in regards to the time of our arrival.

Q: WHO MAKES THE BEST RV SKIRTING?

We hope that it is us! We put a lot of time and effort into our system, while keeping it simple to install for those DIYers, long-lasting, durable, and at an affordable price. We are always using customer input to refine our system, keeping it the best DIY system on the market.

Q: WHAT IF I DIDN'T RECEIVE ENOUGH PANELS?

Something went wrong during the measurement of your RV. Give us a call and if we didn’t send you the correct number of panels that you ordered, we will ship one out asap no cost to you! But if you measured your unit wrong, then the extra panels needed will be at your expense.

Q: WHY IS THE SKIRT LOOSE FITTING?

We don’t make our skirts super tight, they need to be a bit loose. Skirting material can shrink and stretch depending on the weather.

Q: MY SKIRTING WAS DAMAGED WHEN I GOT IT.

We take extreme care in properly packaging our products for shipment. If merchandise is damaged or lost by the transportation companies,  you can refer to the "Damaged or Lost Orders" section in our TERMS & CONDITIONS.

Q: HOW MANY PIECES WILL MY SKIRT BE IN?

We can’t say exactly until the camper has had the skirt installed. We currently offer 8′ sections and those may need to be cut down (custom to your trailer). We can say that the standard will all fold up and fit into a 20x20x20 size box – even a larger fifth wheel – when it is taken off. The insulated would be 2 25x25x25 size boxes for a larger 5th wheel.

Q: SHOULD I DO THE DIY KIT OR AN INSTALL?

If you are in a time crunch and capable of basic handyman skills, go with the DIY kit. During our busy season installs can be limited. We will do everything we can, but sometimes there is just not enough time in the day.

Q: WHY DO I NEED A SKIRT?

To prevent your pipes from freezing and energy savings. Our customers tell us they save at least 50% on propane bills. It also provides extra storage without looking cluttered. We have a great article on Fulltime Families, answering this question more in depth. You can see it here!

Q: DO YOU NEED TO DO A "FITTING" BEFORE YOU COME INSTALL MY SKIRT?

The only thing we need is “type (Fifth wheel or travel trailer), the length, the number of slides that will be skirted, and if you want insulated or standard skirting.”

If you have a 5th wheel we need the length excluding the hitch area and then do not include the slides that are in the upper section.

Q: I JUST TEXTED YOU...AND YOU USE A CELL PHONE AS A BUSINESS PHONE! ARE YOU A REAL BUSINESS?

Yes, we are real! We try to answer the phone as much as possible, but always on the go, as our business is constantly traveling. Plus we understand several of our customers are lineman and work LONG hours, 6 days a week.

Quikskirt Features

Q: WILL I BE ABLE TO ACCESS MY STORAGE COMPARTMENTS IF I HAVE SKIRTING?

Yes, we go low under the cargo doors to give you easy access to your storage. There are some RV’s where we can not fit our track below the cargo doors, so we will often install a screw snap instead.

Q: IS THERE ACCESS UNDER MY 5TH WHEEL?

YES! We split the track in the fifth wheel section into 3 parts allowing you to simply slide the panel off to the side and walk under your camper. When you are done, slide it back and secure.

Q: DO YOU USE SNAPS OR TURN BUTTONS AT ALL?

We use snaps in certain sections only because we HAVE to. The slide-out side walls will not go in and out with turn-buttons or the track installed. Snaps are small enough, allowing your slideouts to funtion as they should. There are a few other places that we may have to put a snap (but we keep this to a minimum).

Q: Will there be SEWAGE ACCESS?

We recommend you run as much plumbing as you can under the skirting and then run it out where the panels connect (if possible). You would just drape the skirting material over your sewage lines.

Quikskirt Materials

Q: WHAT TYPE OF MATERIAL DO YOU USE?

Our canvas is 18oz, 22 mil PVC coated vinyl. It is flame retardant, UV protected, and mold resistant. The insulated is 7 layers, 4 layers of that being foam. It is also flame retardant, UV protected, and mold resistant. It provides an insulation value of R-7 and has a temperature rating of -2 to -11.

The panels are 8’4″ long by 61″ tall. The keder cord is 8′ and center-sewn, leaving a 2″ overhang on each side for vertical overlaps that will attach together with velcro.

Q: HOW IS THE SKIRTING SECURED?

No one enjoys running screws into their RV and when we looked at trading in our fifth wheel, the dealership was not a fan of the turn buttons we installed every 12 inches. So we needed to address that.

We decided to go with the track system and only install screws only 5 screws in our 8' track.

Q: WHAT ALL IS INCLUDED?

All DIY kits come with everything needed to install your skirting, except some basics like paper towel, a pencil, scissors, straight edge, and a screw gun.

Q: WHY SHOULD I GO WITH THE TRACK SYSTEM?

As I mentioned before, the RV dealership was not a fan of us having holes every 12 inches for turn buttons. They said it voided our warranty. Also there are lots of gaps for air to escape in the turn-button system.

Q: WHY NOT JUST USE WOOD OR STYROFOAM?

While wood might have a better insulation value, look at the time it takes to put it up. Now consider taking it apart and moving it. How do you haul it with you? And you will more than likely need to buy new material when you move because the ground levels are not going to be the same at your new location.

Our skirting is designed to put up and take down in roughly 30 minutes after the first installation. It is also designed for uneven locations, and it packs away much smaller and lighter.

Q: DO YOU MAKE AN INSULATED SKIRT?

Although our skirts do just fine in negative degree weather, we listened to our customers. 

YES! We now offer an insulated skirting! Please select that option when making your purchase.

Questions about Traveling

Q: WILL YOU TRAVEL TO ME FOR AN INSTALL?

We will travel to you if you are within our 4 hour radius. If you are further out but have multiple people at your location who also want skirting, we will do our best to make arrangements.

Q: WHAT DO I DO IF I NEED SKIRTING AND YOU DON'T TRAVEL TO ME?

We really only travel to our surrounding states, but have provided a great DIY Kit for those who we can’t get to. As mentioned above, if you know others in your location who want skirting, we will try our best to make arrangements to get to you.

Q: CAN I TRAVEL TO YOU?

Q: DO YOU GIVE DISCOUNTS?

We occasionally run a discount for our DIY Kits but already offer free shipping. When you use our GET PRICING tab and fill out the questions, the price it gives you is your final cost. The best way to hear when we offer discounts and stay up-to-date is to follow us on Facebook or sign-up for updates.

Q: DO YOU WARRANTY YOUR SKIRTS?

With our QwikSkirt System (install and DIY Kits) there are no actual guarantees, it is basically Semi Truck Tarp Material that we are using to skirt your RV.

However, we do take care of our customers if they have a problem that is something they did or we did. We also make our skirting pretty much the strongest and most protected possible.

Just ship us the skirt piece for a major repair and please include return shipping. You can also get the HH-66 glue on Amazon for a small repair or holes.

If something happens to the track, measure it and give us a call.

Q: DO YOU TAKE CHECKS?

We will take checks at the time of your order, but your order will not be processed until the check has cleared. This will often take more time before we ship out your skirt or schedule your install.

Q: DO YOU TAKE PAYMENTS?

Simply put no. We have tried this in the past and it hasn’t went well. We are not able to chase someone down for payments, especially when your house is on wheels!

Q: WHAT IS YOUR RETURN/CANCELLATION POLICY?

FOR OUR QWIKSKIRT DIY KITS:
You will need to cancel within 3 days of receiving your product. You are responsible for shipping cost back to us, in the same package it was delivered in, uncut, unused, and clean.

We will issue your refund at the time your returned product is received, less a 15% restocking charge.

Before returning any product, please contact us. All shipping and brokerage fees, duties and customs fees are the customer’s responsibility.

FOR OUR QWIKSKIRT INSTALLATION:
Orders for custom skirting installation cannot be refunded once the installation has begun.

You need to cancel within 3 days of our scheduled arrival date by contacting our Customer Service Department. We will issue your refund, less a 15% restocking charge.
