INSTALLING TIPS
- It is best to have a partner to help, but it can be done with just one person.
- We recommend starting at the front in between the tongue and working your way backward.
- Be sure NOT to cover up your water heater, furnace, or refrigerator vents.
- If seam cuts are needed, always use a straight edge.
- We recommend using sandbags or water bags to hold the skirt down. Fold your skirt under and then place the bags on each seam.
- It helps to label ALL panels and makes the reinstalling process easier.
- Add Velcro at the seams to connect each panel when skirting is complete. Use Primer94 to prepare the surface of the skirting before applying Velcro, add rivets to further secure.
- All adhesive gets stronger over time, do not apply any unnecessary force for the first 48 hours to the track or Velcro.
Additional tools required to install skirting: pencil, scissors, straight edge, paper towel, hammer, and a screwgun.
INSTALLING BASICS
- Measure where you are placing the track (be mindful of trim and other obstacles, leaving 1-2 inches of room to feed the skirting panel into the track).
- Using the cutters, cut the track to the desired length.
- If installing the track on smooth services, clean the area and use the primer 94 to promote strong bonding.
- Peel the red backing off the track and press the track on where desired as the primer is nearly dry. All adhesive takes up to 48 hours to cure but can vary depending on climate and conditions.
- Slide your panel into the track.
- If the panels need to be cut, mark them with a pencil. Remove the panel and then cut it to the desired length. If installing our insulated skirting, seal the cut edges by using the trim lock and the adhesive from your kit. See instructions below on this process.
- ON ALL SKIRTING-Any cuts through the keder sew line must have super glue applied to the stitching to lock the threads and a rivet installed between the sew lines within a ½” from the edge of the panel.
- Slide your panel back into the track.
- To create an overlap where the panels connect, trim back the keder on one of the connecting panels (do not trim the sew line, only remove the keder ball). Create overlaps before sizing the next panel.
- Continue this process until your skirting is complete.
INSTALLING THE BETWEEN THE TONGUE
- FOLLOW STEPS 1-3 ON INSTALLING BASICS.
- Measure the distance between the V frame directly below the track and add 10”.
- Slide the panel into the track and tuck it between the V frame.
- Mark out the frame on each side, where the frame meets the panel.
- Remove the panel and cut around the frame equally on both sides.
INSTALLING THE VELCRO
- Use Primer 94 to prepare the surface of the skirting where you are installing each Velcro piece.
- Peel the backing off the Velcro and place where desired. Add pressure throughout until secure.
- Rivets and tools are provided to further secure the Velcro.
- Use the hole punch to establish 3 equally spaced holes through the panel and Velcro. (Top, Bottom, Middle).
- Insert the rivet into each hole with the silver (nail) facing towards you.
- Use the handheld rivet gun to compress until the nail is clipped off.
INSTALLING THE TRIM LOCK ON INSULATED SKIRTING ONLY
- Lay your cut panel flat on the ground.
- Measure your trim lock to desired length and cut (It should measure to be the entire length of the cut side on the panel).
- Slightly open the trim lock.
- Place the adhesive on the inside of the trim lock. (Move quickly throughout the installation as the adhesive will begin to set up.)
- Sandwich the trim lock onto the cut seam. Compress the trim lock to seal the material. (Use a hammer and flat surface).
- Continue steps 4 and 5 until all trim lock is adhered to the panel. This process needs to be completed on all cut panels.
